Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry started running postgraduate MD course in 2013 with 30 teaching beds. The department has 7 OPD rooms with adequate patient arrangement, equipment, teaching space and indoor space. In addition to faculty members, the department is supported by occupational therapists, recreational therapist, social workers and other ancillary staff. The department has a well-maintained library with sufficient number of books and journals. Facilities for lithium estimation, psychological testing labs, care and stay of acute cases, chronic psychiatric care and interview techniques etc. are available.

The department has specialized services/speciality clinic like

  • Substance abuse (De-addiction Services), Medico legal services (Psycho diagnostic facilities including psychological testing/ I.Q. testing Services for Child.
  • Adolescent psychiatric/ psychological problems.
  • Geriatric Psychiatric care.
  • Community Psychiatry (help line, participation in national programme etc.)
